Ashton’s my cousin, so I’ve known her as long as she’s been alive. Of course, life is crazy and as we got older, we didn’t see each other too often. I got to take her high school senior photos (back when I was still trying to figure out what my camera could do), and I’m so thankful she trusted me to take her wedding photos now that I know a thing or two! I was so excited for her when she got engaged and even more excited when she told me she wanted me to photograph the most special day of her life. When family trusts you with something so important, it just means the world!
In true South Carolina fashion, the weather app leading up to her big day kept going back and forth. The night before and on the day of, a tornado warning had been issued. Before I arrived at the girls’ getting ready house, the wind had picked up but still no rain. I kept thinking, “if it can just hold off…” Well, my second shooter and I arrived at the house and starting photographing details, and then it started. The bottom dropped out of the sky, y’all. The power even flickered on and off, and we’re still not entirely sure what flew off the back porch. We all kept doing our thing until it was time to head to Boone Hall.
The ceremony was so beautiful, and I loved watching the look on Frankie’s face when Ashton walked down the aisle. And it was so fun getting to see so many familiar faces out in the crowd. When it came time for portraits after the ceremony, the sky cleared and the sun even showed itself a little! When I tell you this wedding will go down in the books, I mean it. Ashton and Frankie had such a great attitude about everything, totally rocked their portraits, and threw one heck of a party.
Enjoy some of my favorites from their day!
